Maersk Supply Service A/S has partnered with DeepGreen Resources Inc. to recover polymetallic nodules from the Clarion Clipperton Zone of the Pacific Ocean. Maersk Supply Service has committed the Anchor Handler Tug Supply Vessel Maersk Launcher and one Subsea Support Vessel to the subsea mining project through 2019. The Maersk Launcher is supporting environmental studies of the seabed reaching a water depth of 4000+ meters and the SSV will be utilizing its deck capacity as well as crane capabilities for testing the nodule harvester prototype.
