So why is HMS Ocean classified as a landing ship and the BrNS Atlantico as an aircraft carrier?

Yes Edson, we are well aware that the navy uses ship-type abbreviations, but for the purposes of this site we use a common "national" prefix which helps keep all Brazilian Navy ships together. We do that for all navies, whether they use any prefixes or not - see

For the Brazilian Navy the official name of this ship is PHM ATLANTICO.

Since she now has an "A" pennant number and is being used a helicopter carrier, I wonder is she should be in the aircraft carrier category. IDK.
