Description:
Greek tanker KATINA (IMO6616318) passing Gibraltar Strait, on July 4th 1989.
On April 17th 1992, loaded with 66000 t of crude oil, she was hit by a freak wave in the Mozambique Canal and sustained a crack in her hull. The ship was beached on a sand bank to avoid sinking.
In order to reduce a coast pollution, the tanker was towed off shore, but on April 25th 1992, she broke in two and sank in deep water (2400 m).
Sorry the pic is not very good.
