The Port of Bristol Authority's 1956 locally built mud hopper FROME is seen passing Avonmouth's south pier outward on 12th August 1966 to deposit her cargo in the River Severn.

Later: 1980: sold to Northwood (Fareham) Ltd
1986: sold to Govan Davies Developments Ltd

I popped out with the camera Ian to see if I could locate the place.

Not anymore MattyBoy, K.& M. Davies went out of business quite a few years back using Wards Yard in the Pill area of Milford and Milford Docks no large ships were broken up by them.

Wow !! I didn't realise we had ship breakers ! Just learn't something there.

Malcolm, The Frome and her sister-ship Avon when sold to the breakers at Milford Haven where K. & M. Davies Ltd., no relation to her last owners Govan Davies.
