These large US carriers anchor in the Solent (Stokes Bay) whenever they visit, she was here a few days, six if I remember and there were trips out to see her, circling around the exclusion zone protected by the police boats. Click "This Ship" for my photos.

Vessel definitely at anchor. Also not bunkering tanker is alongside to remove sewage.

Is she anchored or slow-moving? Can't imagine her anchoring in the Solent tbh. Also, if she's in a state of constant readiness what would be the point of anchoring - think I've answered my own question there. ;-)

I agree, although this was 5 o'clock in the afternoon!

I like the way they light there numbers up at night, etc. I know before she went into refit the USS George Washington (CVN 73) lights were red, white, and blue - do not know if that will change.
