Description:

This is one of 120 inland cargo vessels built in the USA and in Canada shortly after the Second World War for delivery to France as part of the Marshall Plan. Totally 25 smaller (63,31m length) and 95 larger vessels (73,50m length) were shipped to Europe in parts with 35 of the larger vessels being assembled by shipyard De Biesbosch at Dordrecht (NL). Several examples of this rare breed have survived in France, Belgium and in the Netherlands and VERTROUWEN is one of them. She is seen here moored at Maasbracht/Limburg (The Netherlands) with a load of corn.

Hello Bjorn, many thanks for the additional information for these Ingalls built ships. In total around 65 out of 120 originally delivered examples of this rare ship type are still active on the rivers and canals in Central Europe, quite impressive !

My pleasure, gentlemen, many thanks for your nice comments ! And by the way these ships with the sleek lines and the distinctive bow are known as "Franse Motor" in the Netherlands. In July 2018 one of these vessels, the JAN VAN VOORST (ENI 02316566 and since renamed MAROT, her original name) was added to the museum ships of Stichting De Binnenvaart at Dordrecht (NL) where she had been completed in 1953.
