Well should we say very contemporary at that time. Viking's swedish owner Slite had their fantastic Athena and Kalypso on the same market at that time, only some years after the delivery of these remarkable pair of ferries. But they were deemed too conservative with 80's style fine-dining and traditional dance orchestra setups, thus in order to match the competition this party-boat move was made. Sadly, in a way, I too prefer the original livery or even the short-lived Serenade livery 1990-92 although being a bit pale. But that refurbishment quite early in their lives must have had a positive impact on them actually being employed more than three decades now for various owners and routes.
