Description:

BRITISH STEEL was built by Harland and Wolff at Belfast for charter to the British Steel Corporation.
She was floated out of the building dock on 28th January 1984 and handed over on 19th October. Of 90800grt and 173000dwt she was at that time the largest bulker yet built in Europe. With her red hull and decks she was quite a striking sight in bright sunshine!
These photos were taken unfortunately in the evening at the British Steel Corporation/s terminal at Hunterston on the Clyde so her colour scheme is not shown to great advantage.
