I'm fairly certain this is one of six near-sister tankers built for Canadian Great Lakes owners 1930-1931 by FurnessSBCoLtd., Haverton Hill-on-Tyne. They all had very distinctive profiles, including the high bows and pilothouse shown here, as well as the long trunk deck. My guess is this is what remains of the *Witwater,* launched 29 April 1930 by Furness as the *Cyclo-Chief,* hull no. 177, operated by the McColl-Frontenac Oil Co., Ltd., of Toronto. She was later *Texaco Chief,* *Fuel Transporter,* and *Fuel Transport* under Canadian registry. Sold Panamanian in 1970 to Witfuel Corp., and renamed *Witfuel,* she was reflagged at El Bluff, Nicaragua, in 1972. In 1984 she was transferred to Challenger, Ltd., Georgetown, Cayman Islands, and renamed *Witwater.* She seems to have disappeared around 1994 or so. All those "Wit" boats (West Indies Transport) had odd later careers.

Great photo.
