Hello Schovfinn,
her fleetmates on the Gotheburg to Skagen and Frederikshavn run were the german seaside ferries "Seute Deern", "Hein Godenwind" and the steamer "Skagen I". Some kind of a sister of the vessel shown here. Later the bigger seaside ferries "Wappen von Hamburg" (built 1962) and "Helgoland" (later "Baltic STar" joint the Olsen shopping fleet. The latter vessels, beeing bigger, only went to Frederikshavn.
It was a real spectacle every morning when the fleet left from Stenpiren full of passengers prepared and eager to convert their swedish crowns in booze and supermarket stuff. On certain days the vessels did two trips a day. I´ve been a young boy then but still remember it very well.
My father was master, first on "Hein Godenwind", later on "Helgoland" and for a brief period as relief master on "Seute Deern"
"Seute Deern" is now some kind of a museum ship in Hamburg.
Thanks for posting
Jürgen
