Description:
Its Sunday 26 September 1937 and the British Phosphate Commissioners' freighter "Triaster" has arrived from Nauru with a cargo of Phosphate.
Built in 1935 by Lithgows at Port Glasgow, she had passenger accommodation for 40 overall. Manned by British Officers, Chinese cooks and stewards, and Filipino deck & engine-room crew.
On 8 December 1940 "Triaster" was sunk by the German Raider "Orion" [Captain Kurt Weyher] a few nautical miles off Nauru Her survivors were taken off by the Raider.
