And to add, she only had an identification number (1175389) in Miramar and no IMO number.

Manfred Christian, if the date of your picture is correct then it cannot be the Niobe that you suggest, because she was scrapped in early 1967 in Japan.
Then the only other option would the the 1942 built Dorval Park, was was named NIOBE from 1960 through to 1968, when she was scrapped in October, also in Japan.

DORVAL PARK was built by North Vancouver Shipyard, became LAKE CANIM,(46) then DURBAN BAY,(50) then SEA ROVER (60) and finally NIOBE.


Yours is a clear case that questions such as this should be in the description and (part of) the description should be visible with the thumbnail, so people will notice this much more easily.

Build 1942 at Permanente Shipyard - Richmond (1) 441'6" x 57'0"x 27'8 3/4"; Triple Expansion from Hendy 24 1/2"x37"x70":48"; build as ANDREW FURUSETH; in 1947 renamed ESSI; in 1960 NIOBE

If we look at the rig and superstructure we see that this is not the ex: ESSI and ANDREW FURUSETH, which was a Liberty vessel. Instead it must be the NIOBE built in Canada 1944 as DORIAL PARK. She was broken up in Japan in 1968, before she was allocated an IMO-number
