The 1947 Oslo built MACO FORTUNE, recently purchased by Mavrakakis and Comninos, is seen berthed in the Kiel Canal at BrunsbŁttel on 3rd August 1969. Two months earlier she had sailed from Kemi, on 2nd June 1969 bound for Piraeus, arriving there on 9th July, as OLD DREAM.

Laid up at Piraeus 21.2.71
BU at Seymen, Izmit 3.9.73

After six weeks spent on the Canal during June-August 1969 this was my last photograph taken there until 1971

When built as HADRIAN in 1947, she belonged to Hilmar Reksten of Bergen. In the early 1970's he became one of the world's largest private tankship owners. Later it all collapsed.

Thanks Malcolm for sharing with us pictures of interesting ships. In an age where shipowners were still able to have ships built taking into account there own experiences. Not like today where you have the impression that designs are made by the container bridge designers and soulless engineers.
