Description:
The deck of the 17th Century Swedish warship “Vasa” (or “Wasa”) at the Wasavarvet (Wasa Shipyard) temporary facility on Djurgården island, Stockholm, in May 1969
She was completed in 1628 but sank after moving only just over 1 km into her maiden voyage on 10th August of that year.
Her remains were relocated in 1956, raised between 1959 & April 1961 and moved to this temporary facility for restoration & preservation. On completion she was moved to the present Vasa Museum, also on Djurgården, which opened in 1990.
