Description:
Seen passing Gravesend on the fine morning of 23rd August 1969 was Federal Steam Navigation Company's HURUNUI, outbound from London's Royal Docks following a voyage from Dunedin, having arrived at London on 5th July, and a period of lay up in the River Blackwater from 19th July to 6th August.
Built in 1948 by Vickers Armstrongs at Newcastle, HURUNUI had been transferred to Federal S.N. in 1966 from New Zealand Shipping Company. In 1973, not long before her sale to South Korean breakers, she was given the new P&O General Cargo Division funnel colours.
HURUNUI finally arrived at Pusan on 8th September 1973 for breaking.
