Description:

H.Hogarth & Sons Ltd's 1968 Horten (Norway) built bulk carrier BARON CAWDOR is seen passing Portishead, outbound from Avonmouth fifty years ago, on 21st February 1969.

Later: 1975 STIRLING RANGE - 80 ANTIGONI

On 21.11.83, during a voyage from Japan to Bandar Khomeini with 21,000 tonnes of steel she was struck low in her holds by a missile near No.8 buoy in the Khor Musa Channel off Bandar Khomeini. An explosion subsequently broke the vessel in two and she sank, fortunately without loss of life as the crew had enough time to safely abandon the ship.
