Description:

Replica of HM Armed Vessel BOUNTY at Sydney 26 Sep 1999.
Original vessel was built in 1784 as BETHIA, a 230gt Whitby Collier and purchased, modified and armed for Bligh's journey in 1787. It was run aground on Pitcairn Island 23 Jan 1790 by mutineers and burned.

The replica is the only exact replica of the BOUNTY to be built from plans obtained from the British Admiralty. It was commissioned to be built as an exact replica in 1977 for the film "The Bounty" released in 1984.

Built 1979 by Whangarei Engineering and Construction Ltd, NZ (now Oceania Marine, Whangarei, NZ) and launched 16 Dec 1978.

Hull is steel clad with timber and outward details and hull are true to the original vessel's form.

Served as a tourist excursion vessel on Sydney Harbour before being sold Oct 2007 to HKR International Ltd, HongKong. Currently operates charter, excursion and sail training activities at HongKong.
