US Maritime Administration owned cargo ship being pushed "dead stick" by MORAN tugs west into the Hampton Roads from the Chesapeake Bay/Little Creek area.
She was built in 1968 in Pascagoula MI as the DELTA BRAZIL. She has a capacity of approx. 11000 tons of dry cargo, 25000 square feet of refrigerated cargo, and 12000 barrels of liquid cargo at a maximum speed of 18.5 knots and approx. crew of 25.
Retired by Delta Lines in 1984 she was renamed the DEL MONTE and was maintained as part of the Ready Reserve Fleet that could be activated when needed for sealift needs.
Now retired from the RRF force, she is considered "LAID UP" by MARAD and has been used lately as a training tool for different US Military Forces in opposed ship boarding drills.
