Thank you for your comments, MattyBoy and Brett. There's emergency power available in case of main power failure; then there is UPS with its batteries. If something happens to the bridge, the vessel can be steered from the steering gear room, and her engines can also be operated from her engine room.

Well, Husni, it was a rather long day on board, and many a coffee with the captain, too... :)

Seeing how the crew worked the bridge was also a lesson in efficiency and skills.

Thank you all for your comments. This wheelhouse indeed looks and feels high tech, and so does the other wheelhouse (this is the main, forward one, and this class of ships also has the aft wheelhouse, used during heavy duty ice breaking).
