First multidisciplinary research vessel designed in Italy: it was delivered in April 1992 and was considered among the best oceanographic research vessels available to the international scientific community. In April 2015, in the port of Livorno the ship was cut in half into two sections to lengthen its hull, which went from 61 to 67 meters in order to accommodate other research spaces. Unfortunately, an accident occurred in August 2015 that caused the death of one worker and injured the remaining 11 crew members. The ship remained under judicial seizure until March 2017 and then in July 2018 its demolition was announced which ended in September of the same year.
