Description:

The wreck of MV Chica on the banks of the River Weaver near Dutton Locks in Cheshire where she has lain since 1993. An internet search has unearthed the following history of this remarkable vessel. She was built in 1894 as the Flora for Norwegian owners. She was commandeered by Germany in 1940 and renamed Bjorg Haukaas. In 1965 she was renamed Lill Tove. In 1981 she was renamed Chica and saw service with the Straight Shipping Company in Gibraltar where it is understood she was employed on a service from Valletta to Gibraltar. She was subsequently based in Oporto before heading north first to Mostyn in North Wales, then Liverpool and finally the River Weaver where she was employed as a pleasure craft before her demise in 1993.
