Description:

Northbound off Quadra Island, BC; June 4, 2019;

built 1944 by Wheeler Shipbuilding, Whitestone, NY,
as US Army Freight and Supply Ship FS-289;
ex Ghost; ex USNS Bedford;
L x B x D: 53 x 10 x 3 m; 572 gt.;

Originally built as FS-289,, vessel later became USNS New Bedford (T-AKL-17);
subsequently became test vessel IX-308 until stricken in 1995;
converted to a fishing vessel;
Sea Bird is perhaps best known as the USS Reluctant from the 1955 movie
"Mister Roberts," starring Henry Fonda and Jack Lemmon.
