Hulls number one and two of the Freedom class variant on the US Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program moored at Naval Station San Diego. USS Freedom LCS-1 was commissioned November 8, 2008. USS Fort Worth was commissioned September 22, 2012. Currently they are the only two of 7 Freedom class variants homeported in San Diego. The other five are homeported in Mayport, Florida. The Freedom class ships are assigned odd hull numbers. The Independence class with the trimaran hull form receive even hull numbers.
