The Fleet Diving Unit (Pacific) in Colwood, B.C., exists to support the Navy's Pacific fleet;
it also provides other government departments and research institutions with diving services;
it was established as a mine-countermeasures unit shortly after the Second World War,
and this task is still the unit's primary responsibility.
