Description:

This sub of "Nazario Sauro" class is now a part of the "body farm" of submarines at La Spezia naval base, or at least she was when I took this photo back on a New Year's day in 2018.

Thanks lappino for the prompt reply, well with a name like that ...radio antennae/aerials must be the answer!
She is ready for the scrap heap,a rust bucket.
Thanks and regards

Emmanuel, at first I thought they were posts for some sort of protective railing, not for awning; I remember seeing something like it on some WW2 era submarines. But, they can also be some sort of radio antennae/aerials. They were in fact the main reason I could identify this sub, as her equally derelict sister nearby, the "Fecia di Cossato" did not have any...

Cheers

Vlad

What are those angled iron posts on top of the conning tower ? Are they for some kind of awning, strange on a submarine.
Thanks for sharing lappino.
