La Empresa Marítima del Estado (EMPREMAR) fue una empresa estatal naviera chilena. Creada por el DFL N° 388 del 27 de julio de 1953. Transformada en la Empresa Marítima S.A. en 1989. Privatizada en 1995.

The State Maritime Company (EMPREMAR) was a Chilean state-owned shipping company. Created by DFL No. 388 of July 27, 1953. Transformed into Empresa Marítima S.A. in 1989. Privatized in 1995.

EMPREMAR es creado a partir del Departamento Marítimo (FERROMAR 1938) de la Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado. La cual estaba encargado del transporte marítimo entre Puerto Montt y Punta Arenas.

EMPREMAR is created from the Maritime Department (FERROMAR 1938) of the State Railways Company. Which was in charge of maritime transport between Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas.

Mantener líneas regulares de servicio de carga y pasajeros, o solo carga, en todo el litoral nacional.

Atención preferente para los puertos del norte y austral en especial de las antiguas provincias de Chiloé, Aisén y Magallanes.

Mantención de servicios regulares al extranjero.

Instalación de astilleros, diques secantes y flotantes y maestranzas.

En el transporte marítimo tenía prioridad la carga de los servicios fiscales y semifiscales y las empresas autónomas del Estado.

Maintain regular lines of freight and passenger service, or only cargo, throughout the national coastline.

Preferential attention for the northern and southern ports, especially in the former provinces of Chiloé, Aisén and Magallanes.

Maintenance of regular services abroad.

Installation of shipyards, secant and floating docks and masterpieces.

In maritime transport, priority was given to the burden of fiscal and semi-fiscal services and autonomous State enterprises.

Transformado en sociedad anónima denominada Empresa Marítima S.A. en enero de 1989, por la Ley 18.773, que para todos los efectos legales podía seguir usando las siglas EMPREMAR. Accionistas eran CORFO (99%) y el Fisco (1%). En abril de 1995 la CORFO licita un 67% del paquete accionario siendo adquirido por la empresa minera Salina de Punta de Lobos.

Transformed into a corporation called Empresa Marítima S.A. in January 1989, by Law 18,773, which for all legal purposes could continue using the acronym EMPREMAR. Shareholders were CORFO (99%) and the Treasury (1%). In April 1995, CORFO tendered 67% of the share package being acquired by the mining company Salina de Punta de Lobos.
