Description:

Hellenic Lines' 1945/7 Flensburg built Hansa B type PATRAI is seen passing Hoek van Holland, outbound from Rotterdam, on 4th July 1970.

EX - EMPIRE TOWY - 50 EMPIRE PATRAI - 53

She had been taken as a prize, incomplete, in May 1945 and purchased in 1947 by Fenton S.S.Co. "subject to condemnation of the vessel in Prize Court".

After being laid up at Perama from June 1978, PATRAI was sent to local breakers on 1st April 1984.

Hi razzer,
part of the crew (like me for some time) used to live there. Below outside/inside cabins with the thrilling noise and vibrations of the propeller especially in rough weather. On Main deck the crew mess and/or cabin of bosun/carpenter/engine store keeper.
On other ships it might have been different. Anyway, close to the elements.
