Description:

Just departed Portsmouth harbour, sailing through the Solent & on her way to link up with the waiting brand new RFA Tideforce & French anti submarine FS Lamotte-Picquett D645 which is powered by Rolls Royce Olympus engines. Once at the USA she will embark her F-35 Lightning aircraft, the pilots of which have been training in the USA.

Exercise and train together the "NATO way" without having to arrange inter nation exercises. Its not just a "jolly" crossing the Atlantic etc.

Yes, it's also normal for a RN type 23 Frigate & type 45 Destroyer to escort the French FS Charles de Gaulle or a Nimitz class. It's a NATO thing.
