According to internet sources vessel is a US registered private yacht owned and operated by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. It is reportedly being used as a research vessel to study plastic and microplastic contamination in the oceans, as well as research marine oil spills. The ship was named in honor of the American actor and supporter of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Martin Sheen.
