Fergal ,looking big and strong is great for a tug, but not for a luxurious yacht. Can you see a ballet dancer wearing workman overalls and large safety boots?
No sir , she is a tug in the guise of yacht.
best regards

No Pieter, the ship in question is only having a normal maintenance and refit.
Usually ships (since now only ferries and ro/ro) having a scrubbers fit is usually undertaken in No.4 dock.
best regards

Fergal, I totally agree.
Fergal Clohessy on Nov 05, 2019 15:30 (6 days ago)
I actually like the oversized masts and indeed the black paint. makes her look big and strong, a tribute to her earlier days

What is going on with the funnel on the ferry in the background? Scrubbers fitted?

Yes I Know that rd77, but she is a luxury yacht , got to keep standards and if it needs cleaning or painting regularly ,it must somehow be done. Japanese reefers are forever being cleaned and painted and kept in pristine conditions and they are fish reefers, case in point are the KENTA MARU, YACHIYO.

@Emmanuel, if they had painted the aft mast white instead of black, it would still soon have become black from the soot! Either that or the crew would have full time job keeping it white ;-)

If the ARCTIC conversion did away with that extra large masts and radomes, putting these domes on her bridge and a much smaller aft mast.installing or maybe painted them in a less obnoxious colour than this sombre black, maybe in white to go along with the superstructure, then it would have had more appeal, mind you my view.
But as she is, it is more like she looks like a tug than a yacht.
best regards Clive

Personally, I like the tug to yacht conversions - like anything, as long as they are done well - such as this one. I hope that her sister many also be converted in this way better that then being sent for scrap.

Glad you like it Clive, the ARCTIC is a classic yacht, pity her sister maybe will not be likewise converted. (though I am still sceptical as to these ocean tugs conversion to yachts) enjoy my friend.
best regards

This is simply a fantastic photo. There is so much of interest to take in, ferry, cruise ship and two yachts. I think this is one of the best photos that I have ever seen on this site.
