Description:

Now solved with the able assistance of Bob Scott.

Launched on 12/09/1961 and completed at the shipyard on 01/11/1961 by Kawasaki, Kobe, Japan (1022)
A refrigerated cargo ship of 4,862 g.t., and 6,014 dwt., as:
'Chichibu Maru' to 1973 and
'Yan An Wu Hao' until her existence was in doubt - deleted from registers in March 2009.

Unknown date, probably between 1964 and 1973, somewhere in the Red Sea.

I wondered if (in the usual Japanese style) that she was one of a series, but having scanned through the yard deliveries, it seems she was unique.

A matching funnel colour with this Japanese REEFER .
But which company is it? Any ideas please?

Thanks Bjørn, a similar profile with the twin funnels, but Nisshin Maru is a whaler and much larger than the mystery ship.

It looks more like a tandem arrangement, whereby the front one may deal with other stuff, for instance a whale oil cooking facilitiy. Reducing the contrast of the shot shows the contours of a three character name on the bow, plus the arabic name below, but that is all i can see.

Yes, I believe it is Japanese; but is that a twin funnel? If so, they appear asymmetrical in shape.
