Description:
USCGC Bertholf (WMSL-750) is the first Legend-class maritime security cutter of the United States Coast Guard. She is named for Commodore Ellsworth P. Bertholf, fourth commandant of both the Revenue Cutter Service and Coast Guard.
Built at Northrop Grumman's Ship Systems Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi and commissioned on August 4, 2008. The cutter's home port is Alameda, California.
12-24-2019: I thought it was unusual for Coast Guard harbor security RIBs to be guarding the Bertholf during a port visit. I heard on the news last night that this Cutter and a couple of others had seized US$312 million dollars worth of cocaine and marijuana at sea. This photo shows the crew preparing to offload the illegal contraband on shrink wrapped pallets at the Port of San Diego Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal.
