Description:

Former whaler & sealer Dias ashore in Grytviken, South Georgia. Built 1906 as steam trawler Viola, served as minesweeper in WW1, 1920s sold to Norwegian interests named Kapduen, later converted to whaler & named Dias. Albatros behind.

DIAS, ex KAPDUEN, ex VIOLA, GRT:167, NRT:63, length 108.5 feet, breadth 21.7 feet, steamtrawler, built 1906, Cook,Welton & Gemmel,Beverley,UK and also Compania Argentina de Pesca SA, Buenos Aires, Argentina. I did not find an IMO number.

Former Hull trawler Viola. There is talk in the City of Hull to raise funds for the return of this vessel back to its home port.
