Description:

The fast container ship PLUVIUS was delivered in 1972 by Van der Giessen (#884). She was built for the German company F. Laeisz and was fitted with an 18 cylinder MAN medium speed engine, delivering not less than 17500 BHP. Her service speed was well over 21 knots. She went on charter to Seatrain upon delivery, and was later renamed Seatrain Princeton. After three more charter names (Incotrans Promise being the third), she was sold to Taiwan breakers as Pluvius in 1986. Her economics were rather questionable at that time. This picture was taken around 1983/1984.
