Description:
Wreck of the French trawler JULIEN QUERE (IMo7422233), lying some cables from the shore, at Le Pouldu, near Lorient, on May 16th 1995.
21 Jan 1995 - She left Lorient bound to the fishing areas, when an other French trawler, JEAN GERMAINE, sent a distress call, being disabled near Les Glenans Islands. JULIEN QUERE replied but during towage operations, a fire is detected in the crew accomodations. The fire is not under control and the crew must be air-lifted. The JULIEN QUERE drifted all the night, then capsized and sank on her port side off Le Pouldu.
12 Jun 1995 - The wreck is raised on her bottom.
13 Aug 1995 - The ship is refloated and towed to be scuttled in deep water. But on the way, she developped a leak and sank in 30 m deep, in position 47°44'N & 003°33'W.
