Railroad car carrier (100 freight car capacity) launched 14 September 1932 at Chester, PA, by the Sun SB&DDCo. as hull no. 146 for Seatrain Lines, Inc., New York. 470' x 63.7' x 33.2;' 8061 gt, 4927 nt; two DeLaval steam turbines geared to a single shaft, 8800-shp. Requisitioned by the U. S. Navy 25 June 1941 and converted to the aircraft transport *Kitty Hawk* APV-1 (later AKV-1); transported aircraft to the Pacific Theatre from the U. S. and Hawaii, 1942-1944. Returned by the Navy to Seatrain 24 January 1946, renamed *Seatrain New York,* and converted back to a railroad car carrier: 461.3 x 63.7 x 33.2; 8067 gt, 4896 nt.
Broken up at Kaohsiung, 1973.
She is shown at New York in January 1965 with a cargo of mostly truck trailers, assisted by the Moran tug *Susan A. Moran* US240611, built 1941 by H. A. Marvel at Newburgh, New York, as the *Carrie T. Meseck.*
