Hi Hans, thanks for your reply. Good point, I had not thought of that.
2020 is the Chinese year of the rat, so I hope there are none on board the ship at the moment ;-)
Regards, Rick

Hello Rick, thanks for the additional info. At the moment she is probably enjoying a winter break at Chongqing but who knows, in a couple of days the Chinese New Year will be celebrated and she might come to life again ?

Best wishes, Hans

On AIS as one word: 'Jinbinvwang'; last seen at Chongqing 55 days ago.

On the Chongqing Two-River Cruise webpage as 'Jinbi Nvwang'(Golden Queen).

Hello Brett, thanks for the hint. I just learned that Royal Caribbean Cruises calls this design feature the Viking Crown Lounge. There was an early version (180° wraparound) and a later version (360° wraparound). For more info please see here :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking_Crown_Lounge

The SUN VIKING is still active as ORIENTAL DRAGON.

Cheers, Hans

Royal Carribean tried to 'trade mark' their funnel lounges....

Agree with you, CDH, there are some similarities. The builders of this river ship could have been inspired by the special funnel design of the SUN VIKING incorporating a club or restaurant. I don't know, however, whether this feature was unique to the SUN VIKING or was realized on other cruise ships as well.

Many thanks for your comment and best wishes, Hans
