COMMENT THIS PHOTO(27)
Very nice photo
I was at Felixstowe on Saturday when she arrived I have never seen so many people about they had the police on point duty in Langer road to keep the traffic moving.
Keep up the good work

There is a rumour going around that this will be the first and last! one of this series to call UK.
We will have to wait and see!

She even made the national news on TV here at tea-time on Saturday. I can't remember the last time a ship did that unless it was leaking oil or some other pollutant. Great to see her giving ships a higher profile over here. Talking of higher profiles...
I was thinking the same as Darren about looking 'down' onto the container cranes. It must be a heck of a view from up there in her wheelhouse, just right for ship photography 8-)
I know the yachts can be a pain but in a shot like this they can lend a sense of scale to things. Well done all round Derek, I hope you enjoyed.

John J.

Great shot, I can now put her size into perspective, I guess its strange looking DOWN at the container cranes from the wheelhouse !!!!!
Check out my shots on the 4th Nov (Not sure how to link on here)

Agree a nice shot. Only six cranes though, must have been a small exchange (compared to Shanghai). The ship made TV headlines even in New Zealand, where she is hardly likely to ever get any closer than Singapore although most cargo to Europe will soon be hubbed and likely a lot of cntrs will be oncarried by Emma Maersk.
Cheers

Thanks very much for your comment.
She certainely did seem lightly loaded.
I would think that six cranes is the most
used at Felixstowe. I have never seen more working any ship. She is due to leave about 0500hrs tomorrow. She arrived when it was nearly dark yesterday hence no shots of her arriving or sailing!!

Derek :-)

you caught the big dimensions of this giant in agreat way.
I think 10 cranes like in shanghai was to much, it lookes like they don't have any space to move along the ship.
You've seen the photo, there were more container trucks on the harbour area, than i've ever seen.
Best regards
Torben

Glad you like the photo she was most impressive.
I would not think FD&RC could muster enough crane drivers at the weekend to man more cranes!

Mind you, yours is the better view. Those yachts were a bit of a pain though, had to wait ages to get a clear shot.

Kind of you to say mine is the better shot. I feel I had the sun on my side!
You are right about the yachts, plenty of them about today!
