Designed for North Sea services between Norway and England BRAEMAR and her sister ship BLENHEIM (IMO 5046334) were built for Norwegian owners A/S Ganger Rolf (Fred Olsen Line)
The ship's hulls were built in the UK at Southampton by John I Thorneycroft & Sons., on completion they were towed to Oslo to be fitted out and engined by Akers Mekaniske Verksted.
BRAEMAR began her career in 1952 running between Oslo and the Tyne, a route she served until 1975, at which time she was replaced by the car ferry BORGEN. When withdrawn she had become the last traditional North Sea passenger-only vessel in service.
Sold in 1975 to Dashwood Finance Ltd. of Manila who had her converted to a floating casino and moored in Manila Bay, renamed PHILIPPINE TOURIST.
Gutted by fire in 1980 she was subsequently scrapped.
