One day after the Latvian flagged cargo m/v 'Bonita' left Rotterdam upon completion of repairs of its grounding damage, the ship was in collision with a self propelled, tank barge in the night of Feb 13, 2020, at the Houtrib lock in Lelystad. The vessel entered the lock but failed to get the engine in reverse, thereupon hitting the tanker. Also the lock gate was hit and severely damaged in the accident. No injuries were reported. Both ships were banned from sailing by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) for investigatons. A defect on the 'Bonita' probably wasthe cause of the collision.
