Description:

She was built in 1957 by Alexander Stephen of Linthouse in Glasgow as CHANGUINOLA for Elders and Fyffes.
She became OMOA in 1970 and was brought back to the Clyde in April 1975 to be broken up at Dalmuir in the basin once belonging to William Beardmore/s yard. This was taken shortly after she arrived.

What a blast from the past! I sailed on the "Omoa" back in December 1972 as third mate. I joined her in Long beach, Calif. We loaded banana in Jamaica then discharged in South Hampton. I also sailed on her sister the "Olancho" from July to December of the same year. We brought "Olancho" to Baltimore, where she was handed over to new Greek owners. Both ships were under Honduran flag at the time.

A truly gorgeous ship, in my humble opinion. I have allways loved the reefers, increlible lines. To bad the ship nowadays looks like some sort of lego-boxes, hehe! Best regards ghazten sandefjord Norway

Indeed but some of the modern reefers do have some looks about them still. The successor to OMOA was a good looking ship also.
