I like to see a similar photo taken from the same place but these days, must be a great difference, are all the 7 floating docks still operational? and what about the individual vessels, most of them must have been scrapped.

Adding my 5 cents.
Seems like 2 sisterships are alongside at the fitting out piers?
Black funnels, could be Rotterdam LLoyd " M " class general cargo vsls, Merwe Lloyd, Mississippi Lloyd, 6 hatches, 4 fwd, 2 aft.
Thanks for sharing this impressive Hamburg Shipyard picture DDG!
Rgds,
Capt.Bill

At that time, the order books of the German shipyards were still full. And today....

Tanker looks like ESSO DEUTSCHLAND- see:http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3052690
On the left side is British India's UGANDA, being converted to a education ship - therefore this must have been in 1967, as she re-entered service in February 1968.

Oh my days !! This is an absolute gem - I'd like to have shaken your grandfather by the hand. Superb. Is that an Esso vessel at the bottom ? So many interesting aspects.
