I like to see a similar photo taken from the same place but these days, must be a great difference, are all the 7 floating docks still operational? and what about the individual vessels, most of them must have been scrapped.

Adding my 5 cents.
Seems like 2 sisterships are alongside at the fitting out piers? Black funnels, could be Rotterdam LLoyd " M " class general cargo vsls, Merwe Lloyd, Mississippi Lloyd, 6 hatches, 4 fwd, 2 aft. Thanks for sharing this impressive Hamburg Shipyard picture DDG! Rgds, Capt.Bill |

At that time, the order books of the German shipyards were still full. And today.... |

Tanker looks like ESSO DEUTSCHLAND- see:http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3052690
On the left side is British India's UGANDA, being converted to a education ship - therefore this must have been in 1967, as she re-entered service in February 1968. Krispen |

Oh my days !! This is an absolute gem - I'd like to have shaken your grandfather by the hand. Superb. Is that an Esso vessel at the bottom ? So many interesting aspects. |
