Thanks Bob, I didn't realise that re: reflection of sun-rays. Fascinating.

Reefer ships are normally painted white so as to reflect the sun’s rays in the tropics and so help keep the cargo cool. There is no rule that says they MUST be white.

I didn't realise until a few years ago that there were designated paint schemes for certain types of vessels. Is there an international guide for this?
