Description:

In the early seventies the Fredrikstad MV deleivered two 127000 DWT Ore/Oil carriers to CH Sörensen, the Ancora and the Acina. As everything carrying oil delivered after 1973 their careers were not really very rewarding. The Ancora, shown here as Galini, was sold in 1983 to Embiricos, and was the subject of an even shorter career. In March 1986 she suffered a pump room explosion claiming the lives of the master and three other crew members. She was towed to El Ferrol and from there in December of the same year, she was towed all the way to Thailand to be scrapped.

It is rather unusual to see a tanker at the Europoort jetties (This is Shell Jetty 103) discharging bow first, but on another that I took there is a floating crane working on the forecastle, so they wanted that out the way of traffic af much as possible.
