Description:

The 1939 Thornycroft, Woolston, built WESTWARD HO, owned between 1966 and 1973 by Townsend Car Ferries Ltd of Cardiff and on charter to P. & A. Campbell, is seen passing Portishead exactly fifty years ago today, on 8th May 1970.

It seems likely that she was employed on a special cruise from Bristol to mark the 25th anniversary of V.E. (Victory in Europe) Day.

EX- VECTA-66 (Southampton, Isle of Wight & South of England R.M.S.P. Co. Ltd.)

In 1973 WESTWARD HO was bought by Jud Evans and berthed in Pomona Docks, Manchester, as a floating restaurant. After a decade, the "North Westward Ho!" closed and the ship was broken up in 1996.
