Description:
Sidermar bulk carrier DRACO, incoming at the Hook, mid eighties.
She was one of the largest panamaxes afloat at the time, with a DWT of over 81000, and an overall length of 245 meters. Her fully loaden draught was however to much for the Panama Canal at the time.
She was built at the Monfalcone yard (#4328) of Italcantieri, one of the shipyards of the state controlled IRI holding.
She was sold of in 1991 and renamed UNIPER.
In 1996 she was renamed FORMOSA TRIDENT
and in 2004 she became the ETERNAL STAR. All is relative these days as only five years later she ended at some Chinese scrapyard.
