Thank you Tony, I always look, but don't often comment, on your wonderful, historical images!
Much appreciated.

Rick, many thanks for your comments and information. On two of my voyages on her we went to Suva - this was possibly on a line voyage back to Sydney from the USA, given the colour of her cranes. I have over 300 slides of her and it is hard to keep track. Cheers

I concur with Clive Harvey's comment - indeed a lovely sight and a reminiscence too, I believe.

My first thought was that she is alongside the main wharf at Suva, especially with the specific godowns on the quay.

I was there several times in the late 70's and early 80's.
A close inspection of the courtesy flag seems to show the merchant ensign of Fiji - a red background with Union Flag, and what appears to be the Fijian National Coat of Arms in the fly half.

In September 1981, due to mistaken identity, my wife and I were 'dragged' into the Official welcoming reception lineup at the National Stadium, for the first State visit of Indira Gandhi to Fiji. We were unaware that she was even on the island until that moment,
To this day, I do not know whom we were mistaken for.

Upstairs, somewhere in the loft I have the Fijian Times newspaper of that day. I recall that under the title, it reads 'The first newspaper published in the world today'.. referring to the International date line. A nice touch.
