A small yard usually used for breaking up of older Korea Coast Guard small vessels, detained Chinese poaching fishing boats, and an occasional crane barge like this one pictured here. Also pictured here is a moment the cutter's torch has come upon something really flammable...

Yes, captain Ted, there are excellent beaches with crystal clear water on both sides of Viktor Lenac shipyard; as a kid, I liked more those to the west, before shifting to the eastern ones, which are better for diving. One of my "secrets" is a subterranean beach, situated in a cave - one actually has to dive under the rock wall first to access it...

Cheers

Lappino,, I was in 2009 in Rijeka in the floating dock and the water is crystal clear.

Right beside the ship yard are a bunch of beaches and one can see always peoples on it. Was a nice place for DD works for 12 days.

Thanks Vlad. I used to swim across Gruz harbour, on the Lapad side. Sometimes we would swim right across to the moored ships.
Cheers...

Hi Csaba, on this photo, the sea level is maybe 3 meters below the high tide, the lowest I've ever seen it, anyway. The bottom is muddy, and the water does not look too unclean. The main problem with the quality of South Korean sea water is garbage, not the water quality itself. I have to tell you, I'we never dipped into the waters around Mokpo, but I have seen some beaches around here, and I would love to try them if the water is just like the one on the photo. Beaches in Busan, for instance, attract millions of people every year.
In Croatia, you can swim right next to the major shipyard, in South Korea much less so...

Cheers

Vlad

Vlad, I am just wandering how clean the sea is around here. I guess it is not quite for swimming but how polluted is it?
