She's not been completed yet; just recently launched. She still has couple of months to be completed.

Hello Vlad,
Thank you for sharing "rather smaller" 11,000TEU container ship for EVERGREEN.
I will visit Marugame late June or early July for the same series being built at Imabari Shipbuilding.

Hi Capt. Ted, the color of her hull is dark green, but the question is how much of it can be seen on the photo taken on a gloomy day... :)

Cheers

Thanks for your comment, MattyBoy. There are not too many yards in South Korea (unlike in Japan), and so far they've been busy with their current orders, with the virus barely able to dent their production output.

But, the new orders have fallen dramatically, and the next year will be very tricky for them.

Currently, here are the major South Korea yards:
- Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, soon to merge with Daewoo on Geoje Island, creating the biggest (by far!) shipyard in the world, being mostly into gas carriers, VLCC tankers and containers;
- Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, product carriers and container feeders;
- Hanjin Heavy Industries in Busan, currently doing some government work, but otherwise without great prospects, imho;
- Daesun in Busan, product carriers, feeders, some passenger ferries;
- STX in Jinhae, future uncertain;
- Samsung Heavy Industries on Geoje Island, shuttle tankers, gas carriers and FPSOs, some offshore work;
- Hyundai Samho in Mokpo, VLCC tankers, gas carriers, container ships;
- Daehan near Mokpo, aframax & suezmax size tankers.

And that's it. All of them will heavily rely on gov't help, come next year.

Cheers

Vlad

Great photo's as usual coming out from your side of the world. Tell me, what impact do you think the virus will have on these big yards? Will we be seeing some going to the wall perhaps? How many yards are there in Korea? Regards,
