There is a ban here in Milford Haven of vessels fitted with open-loop exhaust scrubbers of the discharge of exhaust gas scrubber wash water into the the Haven.

Captain Ted a general reset of the site has caused some damage.

Can I ask the ADMINS why some of my comments on this picture were removed ?

Captain Ted, there is also an option that the ship has a small stock of compliant HFO on board...
Good to see that Singapore has banned the use of open loop scrubbers in their waters. There is not much difference in disposing sulfur into the sea instead of the atmosphere.

@ Krispen Atkinson,,exactly that,,either one burns HFO wich complies with the new sulphur standard or one has to use MGO/MDO while in Singaporean waters. As this ship has a scrubber it has most likely HFO fuel aboard which does not comply and therefore burns MGO/MDO.

A possible explanation. She is seen in Singaporean waters, which bans scrubber-discharge. Therefore when in their waters, she is burning compliant fuel (therefore no need to go through the scrubber). Once sailing again, and outside Singaporean waters she will most likely switch back to non-compliant fuel, with the emissions being routed through the scrubber, and therefore complying with the emission regulations.

Possible reason ..Vessels are still allowed to burn heavy fuel oil even if scrubbers are fitted.

Are the scrubbers in action? I see smoke coming out from the original funnel. How the system works?
